Working from his studio, he creates functional vessels—mugs, cups, vases, and teapots—that bring beauty and intention to daily use. Every piece is unique, shaped on Leach-style kickwheels using clay he mixes himself, then fired in a gas kiln or during collaborative woodfirings.

These pieces are handcrafted using traditional Japanese, Korean, and pre-industrial European techniques, made with coarse, iron-rich clay from Whakatu, Nelson, and glazed with natural materials including river silt and ash. The gas and wood-firing process creates distinctive, organic finishes, ensuring that no two pieces are identical.

Born in England with roots in the storied ceramics region of Stoke-on-Trent, Scott's passion for pottery began at 18 during evening classes in Turanganui-a-Kiwa Gisborne. After earning his Diploma of Ceramics from Otago Polytechnic, he apprenticed with renowned potter Masakazu Kusakabe in Japan's Fukushima prefecture, deepening his understanding of traditional craft.

Explore this collection of functional, handmade pottery designed to elevate your everyday moments.
