Circular timber plugs have been used to remove and repair knots, remaining visible within the end grain as part of the construction and natural character of the wood.\u003cbr\u003e\nEnd grain is particularly suited to chopping boards, allowing a knife edge to move between the vertical wood fibres rather than repeatedly cutting across them.
